The EDC held its annual retreat and planning exercise last Jan 8 and 9, 2010 in the picturesque  River View Resort not far away from Tha Ngone bridge. All EDC staff led by the Managing Director, Ms Thiphaphone Phetmany and the partners participated. The entire event was managed by a team led by Visay SAYYAVONGSA, EDC’s head of Digital Media. The agenda for this year’s event are as follows; (a) review of 2009 achievements and missed opportunities, (b) trends and prospects for 2010, (c) what can we do and What we want to do, as well as (d) detailed planning activity. The partners also met and finalized the 2010 EDC plan.

The Managing Director officially welcomed the three new staff from the Young Development Professional Program (YDPP) to the EDC family. They are: Mr. Wanna, Ms. Bounthavivan and Mr. Lathapong. In her speech, Thip mentioned about the expectation for them to learn and grow with EDC. Thone introduced about EDC vision, mission and pointers on emerging projects, Somchay examined the human resources challenges and Buakhai gave a brief presentation about the EDC highlights.

The staff and management also took the opportunity to entertain themselves with jokes, games hange of gifts. It was different the way EDC staff entertain participants and themselves. The staff really enjoyed the planning exercises and new games. The whole resort laughed, competed in some games, danced and sang with the EDC. As the retreat ended, each one felt recharged and highly motivated. There was stronger friendship, solidarity, mutual understanding, and bonding between and among the EDCians. This was another event that cannot easily be forgotten.
